INTRODUCING CHALK SITE DESIGN
Chalk Site Design was created with the goal of providing exceptional Landscape Architecture for the Omaha Region, and beyond.
Chalk is something of a ubiquitous material. As a mineral, it is the deposits from ancient oceans, long dried up. These remnants are visibly exposed from Western Kansas, through Nebraska, and into South Dakota, and are the record of life for these extinct seas. As a modern tool, it is used as a temporary means of communication and expression. It is used to teach on chalkboards, or as art on a sidewalk, but in the end, it will be cleaned for something new. It is this duality that I find fascinating and represents the challenges of site design. I love that good site design hangs in the balance of short term needs, such as budget, with the long term needs of the community, including timelessness, sustainability, and beauty. The impacts of site design are felt long after it's been built, and it's that balance and connection that I want to achieve with Chalk Site Design.
